I’m an eternal beginner in Piano and was skeptical towards learning from online videos. But the description of the course sounded like exactly what I was looking for (entry point into Jazz).
I went in with full motivation and committed to practicing 30 min for 5 days a week. Progress was steady and after spending a total of 15 hours I reached the end of the course. I still need to get the song up to speed but otherwise I am thrilled with the result.
The best thing about this course is the instructor. At first I had the impression that he will go too fast but it turns out that he’s very patient. In most cases when I had a doubt myself about something he just said, he repeated it himself, sometimes twice, sometimes slowing down. This gave me the feeling of being on track and being encouraged. To sum it up, he has really good pedagogy, something that many online teachers are lacking.

Really enjoying this course. I’m a relatively new piano learner (Started at 40 years old, about 1.5 years ago). And I’m learning that Jazz & Blues is pretty complicated, but Willie is making it possible even for me to learn & catch on to some of the topics. With lots of practice, I’m starting to get the hang of Ben’s Blues!
Early on, when I was just starting, I asked my young kids if they wanted to hear me play Ben’s Blues… They said “Nooooo, please noooo!”. But now, they’re like “Oh yeaaaah!!!!” So I’m feeling pretty good.
Thanks again Willie for making this possible. And I’m looking forward to progressing deeper into this course.

This was perfect for my level of jazz playing – accomplished pianist but an absolute beginner at jazz. This course took you through step by step, learning by rote, easy explanations etc. I would say you need an least a small amount of piano/ music experience so not for a complete beginner. Thank you and I shall be checking out your other courses!

This is an excellent course with many aspects of blues and jazz playing, for me new chord voicings and insight into improvisation. Willie’s teaching ability and methods make new concepts and techniques easy to pick up and learn.

This course is amazing! I’m a classically trained pianist of 15 years, and I’ve always wanted to learn Jazz improv. There’s a lot of practice and work ahead of me, for years to come, I just wish I could have Willie as my teacher live!

Very clearly explained, and very encouraging. Tells you to expect it’s not going to be easy, so those learning will not be intimidated or feel like they’re really making no progress when they do hit those learning blocks.
Just the section on how to practise alone would have saved me hours of wasted effort learning the wrong way years ago!

With just a few basic piano skills this course is a superb way to ramp those skills, fast and furious. I was blown away by the progress I made, musically, just by picking up the vibe Willie gives off.
What basic skills do you need? Know the names of the keys. Know how to construct a 7th chord. Be able to find your way round a simple basic sheet of music. That’s all. You will pick up the rest quite easily from the course content.

I am a fairly basic level student but I was surprised to be able to follow a lot of what Willie was teaching. I don’t have time to spend on practicing as I am in the middle of a major move to a new home, but, I am using one of the rooms in my new home as a music studio and hope
to be able to spend a lot of time learning piano and guitar. Thanks Willie for this wonderful lesson. Within the next two or three months I hope to subscribe to a lot of the lessons you offer. Timothy S. – Feb. 17, 2025.

Just purchased this on Valentine’s Day and have it downloaded and started the course. I love the simple way Willie explains everything needed to learn the piece. First time I ordered from Willie was a Beginning Blues Course on Udemy. Since then, I have signed up with his Home School Piano and other sites. He is good in teaching by following his playing.

A very effective way of teaching with clear demonstration, the course is well designed that I can follow easily and memorize the blues by practicing right after what I learnt. Even for a classical pianist, I still can’t engage and improve a lot. Thank you.

Simply the best. No one breaks it down like Willie. If you have been confused and felt “left in the dust” by other courses, give this a try. You will be more than pleased.

I bought this course recently and took to it instantly. It contained a range of techniques and skills that I’d seen before on the website but what made this course such an appropriate purchase was how those techniques were all included within this fine example of swing jazz. It has a combination of an excellent right-hand riff supported and counterposed by a marvellous walking bass. That combination was and is a perfect example of the swing jazz tunes that I’d love to master. If you agree with me there then I do suggest that you follow my example and take a look at Ben’s Blues.

“Ben’s Blues” can be thought of as a cup of “blues espresso.” Although it is the simplest blues course, it includes blues scale, 12-bar blues form, chords, rhythm and improvisation. I can master the essence of the blues very easily and quickly.
A very recommended course for anyone who wants to learn blues for the first time.

I can hardly learn what I do not understand…. and the point is that this course makes a 360 degree approach of this blues concept making each techniques clearly understandable. Great pedagogy from Willie to make us progress step by step.

I took Ben’s Blues and was able to get thru it in less than two weeks. Willie’s instruction was very clear and straightforward with crystal clear lessons for both hands. I enjoyed learning the bass line as I was interested and pleased to learn how to walk the bass for the 6-2-5-1 progression, which was very well demonstrated.
